Falling a bit behind on my posts. Gotta get caught up!
Session Name: Meet the Bloggers, Sunday 4:15pm
Let me take you back to Sunday afternoon, where I had the pleasure of joining Cesar Torres (@himss) and the HIMSS09 gang at the first “Meet the Bloggers” event at the conference. This year has marked a great new chapter in bringing social media more into the fold for conference attendees by inviting bloggers in the healthcare space to join a panel discussion on social media and blogging. The crowd was a small one, but overflowed the space we had. The roundtable group for the panel included speakers from http://timjedwards.com, http://www.healthcare-informatics.com, http://Anupriyo.com , http://chilmarkresearch.com , http://blogs.msdn.com/healthblog/default.aspx, and http://Medicalconnectivity.com .
Each panelist had a few minutes to share about themselves and the purpose of their blogs. The audience was given the opportunity to ask a few questions after and we went over time with still more questions coming. People were most interested in how the blogs connected to the business activities of each of the speakers. For some of the bloggers, their blogging activities are an extension of their marketing and awareness building for their companies, while others do it for their own personal interest in healthcare and technology. Regardless of their reasons, they are worth a regular read from folks in HIT and great guys to boot. I’m glad I had the opportunity to join this session as I’ll be on the hotseat on Tuesday where I’ll join the panel of speakers at the “Meet the Bloggers” session.
After this session I had a few minutes to spend with Tim Edwards (http://timjedwards.com). We recorded some thoughts about the conference and the role of IT. Take a listen to the audio and I think you’ll agree that Tim has a passion for not only the industry of his profession, but an keen awareness of the people served by HIT.
